Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) remains a major unmet clinical challenge. A new study by Gonzalez-Rellan et al. shows that glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptors on intrahepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells are key mediators of semaglutide's weight loss-independent hepatoprotective effects, reframing our understanding of how GLP-1-based therapies act within the diseased liver.
